A radio operator on the destroyer escort USS Otter,(DE-210) Rod will tell us about his experiences during the war, and we'll hear some of his favorite wartime songs. Join us in honoring this veteran!
Step into the Divaville Lounge on August 10 from 2-4 pm, as we pay tribute to a giant of popular music: Louis Armstrong. Arguably the most important American musician of the 20th century, Armstrong's influence on jazz is hard to measure. We'll learn about the revolutionary New Orleans jazz scene which Armstrong helped create, hear some of his earliest work on cornet with King Oliver and with the Hot Fives, and play favorites from Armstrong's many years of superstardom. Tune in for an afternoon of Satchmo classics!

Cole was one of the greatest singers of the twentieth century, also a visionary jazz pianist and talented songwriter. We'll hear some of Cole's earliest recordings, great songs from the King Cole Trio, the hits which made him a superstar, and terrific performances from his television show. Kern was a pioneer of American musical theater who wrote music for over 50 Broadway shows and many Hollywood musicals. We'll hear great Jerome Kern songs from his acclaimed shows like Show Boat, Roberta and Swing Time, performed by Divaville Lounge favorites. It's "A Fine Romance," so "Let's Begin"!
